Ashley Lemley is a 2018 graduate of ABC and now serves full-time in the Business Office.
She says, "As the Business Office Clerk, I am privileged to assist with the finances for our Alpine Ministries, ABC Coffee Shop, and the many events on campus. My duties include taking payments, running charges, and making daily deposits. All these small and seemingly mundane tasks play a role in the bigger purpose of ABC as we strive to educate and equip servants for our Lord."
"I am thankful for the numerous ways that the staff and faculty served me during my time as a student and am honored to pour into the incoming students what has been poured into me."
Pray for an ABC Missions student and a 2018 graduate who traveled together to Guyana. While a VBS outreach to hundreds of children is their primary ministry, they also have opportunities to counsel women and paint a church building. #ABCsummermissions

Appalachian Bible College is pleased to announce the new Dr. Aaron E. Lavender Ministry Scholarship. Benjamin Cale, Director of Admissions, presented the scholarship at the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association (FBFA) annual conference.
After answering God's call to preach the Gospel in 1975, Dr. Lavender pursued ministry training and has been faithfully serving as a pastor since 1981. While in a church planting ministry in Charleston, West Virginia in the 1980's, Dr. Lavender spoke in ABC Chapel services and participated in training seminars and Alpine Ministries activities. Now in Kansas City, Dr. Lavender continues to live out ABC's motto, "...Because Life is for Service."

Appalachian Bible College welcomes Dr. Ken Lawson as the new Vice President for Academics. Dr. Lawson graduated from Salem State College (B.S.); Bob Jones University (M.A.); Cincinnati Bible Seminary (M.Div.); Bethany Theological Seminary (D.S.T.); and Preston University (Ph.D.). Currently he is completing the Doctor of Ministry program at Westminster Theological Seminary.
A recently retired U.S. Army Chaplain with the rank of Colonel, Dr. Lawson served for thirty-four years in the Army and Army Reserve. He also spent eleven years in civilian pastoral ministry, three years in international church planting ministry, and ten years as a part-time Bible college instructor. Dr. Lawson has authored fifteen books and numerous articles primarily on religious and military themes. He and his wife, Vera, were married in 1986. They have four adult children.
Dr. Lawson says his most memorable ministry experiences are completing five trips to war-torn Bosnia, Kosovo, and Macedonia; ministering to wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan in a hospital in Germany; serving on Hurricane Katrina recovery duty; ministering to Haitian earthquake survivors; and serving as a chaplain to first responders related to the 9/11 attack on New York City.
“We are extremely grateful to have Dr. Lawson lead our excellent academic activities,” says Dr. Daniel Anderson, President of Appalachian Bible College. “He brings a wealth of experience plus a companion heart for equipping servants for the Church around the world. We are especially honored to celebrate his exceptional military career, and welcome his role in attracting service members to our campus community.”

Sunshine and new students brighten up this first day of classes. The 2018-19 school year has officially begun!
"ABC’s emphasis and commitment to servanthood has been forever etched in our minds," says Jeremy Yowell. "It’s very gratifying to be able to give back to those who helped prepare us for life and ministry."
The new Chair of the Music Ministry Major met his wife, Melissa, while both were studying Bible and Music at Appalachian. Now they have returned to help train the next generation of musicians for the church. One of those is their son, Josiah, a junior in the Music program. The Yowells also have two more sons, Solomon and Gideon.
Since graduating from ABC, the Yowells spent 21 years in pastoral and music ministry, and Mr. Yowell also completed a Master of Music degree. He brings a wealth of experience to the classes he teaches, such as Conducting, Music History, and private lessons. He also conducts the Chorale and coordinates chapel music. Mrs. Yowell, equally passionate about music, is teaching Accompanying I, Congregational Hymn Playing I, and private piano lessons.
